Father of Mercy
Oh, my soul, rise and sing of the marvelous King
Who has ransomed your life from the land of the darkness.
You’re no longer a slave who must fight and complain,
But a dearly loved child of the King of all brightness!
Through the Red Sea He brought you; He led you and taught you,
And fed you with manna from heaven.
At the waters He asks, do you trust that I love you,
That My ways are mercy and justice and love?
You’ve been begging for crumbs as you’ve stumbled along,
Still believing yourself written out of the story.
But the God of the heavens is the Father of all,
And on you, even you, He has lavished His glory.
As you look up in faith, all the wonder and grace of
The merciful Father shines there;
In the eyes of the Savior you’ll surely find favor,
Not for what you’ve done, but because He is love.
For the Father of all is the Father of Mercy;
He opens His hand and provides all we need.
And He loves with a love more abundant and free
Than all we could ever have asked or dreamed--
Oh, this is our King!
You’ve been striving for life and to be justified,
But the Father has given His Son for your freedom.
Come and enter His rest; find the joy of the blest,
As you learn from the Savior the ways of the Kingdom.
For He richly provides all you need for your life, all
The birds of the air know His care;
He who’s given us Jesus each moment still frees us
As we trust our Father in heaven above.
Chorus
Freely you have received,
So freely you shall give;
Freely you’ve been redeemed,
So freely you shall live!
Oh-oh-oh,
For the Father of all is the Father of Mercy;
He opens His hand and provides all we need.
And He loves with a love more abundant and free
Than all we could ever have asked or dreamed--
And the Father of Lights is the Father of Goodness,
He hears our requests and so faithfully leads.
And He gives with a grace more abundant and free
Than all we could ever have asked or dreamed--
Oh, this is our King!
